This policy describes how Tailor My Application (“we”, “us”) handles your personal data when you use our website and application. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with UK GDPR.

Who we are

Tailor My Application is a web application that helps UK job seekers tailor their CV and cover letter to specific job descriptions. Contact us at jdswift94@gmail.com.

What data we collect

  • Account data: email address and display name when you sign up.
  • CV data: the master CV you upload or paste, stored in structured form in your account.
  • Application data: job specifications you paste, generated tailored CVs, cover letters, compatibility scores and chat messages related to each application.
  • Billing data: purchase records and credit balances when you buy credit packs (payment processing is handled by Stripe).

How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and maintain your account and saved applications.
  • Generate tailored CVs, cover letters and compatibility scores when you request them.
  • Process payments for credit packs.
  • Respond to support enquiries.

Where your data is stored

Your account and application data are stored in Google Firebase Firestore (data region: europe-west2). Access is restricted to your authenticated account via Firebase security rules.

Third-party AI processing

When you tailor an application or use the chat feature, your CV text, job specification and related context are sent from our server to Google's Gemini API to generate results. This processing happens on our backend — your CV text is not sent directly from your browser to the AI provider. We do not use your data to train our own models. Data retention

We retain your account and application data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual saved applications from your dashboard. To request deletion of your entire account and associated data, contact us at jdswift94@gmail.com.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Cookies and local storage

We use Firebase Authentication, which stores session tokens in your browser to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
